If your bathroom is anything like mine, it feels outdated, small, and could use a facelift.
Here are a few tips and tricks as you DIY your bathroom.
Use a bigger mirror.
If your bathroom feels small, a bigger mirror will give the illusion of more space. Getting rid of those medicine cabinets that protrude from the wall will also make your bathroom feel less cramped. Opt for under-the-sink storage solutions or a medicine cabinet hidden within the wall/frame.

2. Update your light fixtures and bulbs
Clean out those fixtures, replace them, or just buy a brighter lightbulb. If your bathroom is a darker color palette, hanging the lights shining down will optimize the light. Since darker colors absorb light, light bulbs pointing down will enhance the direct-task light needed for bathroom use. However, if your bathroom is a lighter palette, lights pointing up might be optimal as the light will reflect off the lighter colors, giving the room a brighter, airier feel.
LED lightbulbs are brighter than typical wattage lightbulbs, can save you money on energy, and will last longer before needing to be replaced. There are also many different shapes of lightbulbs if you simply want to add a little more flair to your bathroom.

3. Don't forget to caulk
Whether you decide to update your vanity counter with peel and stick vinyl or linoleum your floor, be sure to caulk the edges for durability and life. Silicone caulk with prevent a barrier around the edges, making it harder for water to collect and grow mold.
